PON winners to go international

JAKARTA (JP): The 16 gold medalists from the 14th National
Games (PON) taekwondo competition will don the national colors in
the ASEAN Taekwondo Championships in Ho Chi Minh City from Oct.
23 through Oct. 27 1996.

Deputy Secretary-general of the Indonesian Taekwondo
Association Hanafi M Saud said yesterday that Indonesia would use
the tournament to observe the progress made by its rivals prior
to the Southeast Asian Games here next year.

There will be six West Javanese, four Central Javanese, three
Jakartans, a North Sumatran, an East Kalimantan and a Yogyakartan
on the team.

Hanafi said that those failing in Vietnam would lose their
positions in the SEA Games to runners-up at PON. (yan)
