Poll workers sent to jail

JAKARTA: Three poll workers who organized balloting for migrant workers based in Tawau, Malaysia have been sentenced to one month in jail each for committing election fraud.

The court found Ridwan bin Tahir, Arifin bin Namang and Jainal guilty for perforating over 7,000 ballot papers and declaring them valid votes, the Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) deputy chairman Rozy Munir announced during a press conference.

Ridwan is a staffer at the Indonesian consulate in Tawau.

Rozy said that the case was the only criminal offense that had taken place in the election runoff. -- JP
