Poll raises hotel's occupancy rates

MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The occupancy rate of hotels in Makassar has risen to up to 80 percent during the campaign period, from the normal occupancy rate of 60 percent on average.

The three-week campaign period started on March 11.

Anggiat Sinaga, the chairman of the Hotel and Restaurant Association in Makassar, said that the occupancy rate was the highest in the past five years.

"It is a good sign. We hope that the occupancy rate will keep on rising in the future," he said.

He said that many politicians and members of political parties had attended campaigns in the city or seminars on the elections. -- Antara
