Poll commission to visit malls

JAKARTA: The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD Jakarta) will hold education campaigns at several malls in the capital, beginning at Plaza Senayan on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Commission member Juri Ardianto said on Thursday the "Elections Goes to the Mall" campaign would involve 10 TV stars.

"As places where people gather, malls are a perfect place for the program .... We want the public to understand that the general election is not a special event they have to be worried about," Juri said.

The commission will hold similar events at nightspots around Jakarta.

It will also release video compact discs on the elections, distribute books and posters, and hold seminars and TV and radio talk shows, as well as working with universities and community groups to reach out to voters. -- JP
