Poll body ready to delay poll

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: The Lampung General Elections Commission (KPUD) said it may have to delay the elections in the province due to logistical problems. Edwin Hanibal, a member of the Lampung commission, said on Friday that not all the ballot papers sent by the central General Elections Commission (KPU) had been received by the Lampung commission.

The local commission had only received some of the ballot papers required for the elections to the House of Representative (DPR), and the provincial and regental/municipal elections.

"The Lampung commission has yet to receive any ballot papers for the Regional Representative Council (DPD) election," he said.

He said that if by next week the Lampung commission had not received all the ballot papers needed, then it would delay the election in order to prevent chaos.

Lampung province should receive some 19.8 million ballot papers. -- JP
