Politicians beg for seats

SEMARANG: Central Java Governor Soewardi says local politicians have flooded him with letters begging him to help them obtain seats on local legislative councils or in the House of Representatives.

He claimed that politicians from all three political organizations, Golkar, the United Development Party and the Indonesian Democratic Party, have sent him letters.

"The letters are streaming in from both individuals and political organizations," Soewardi, who is a senior Golkar official in Central Java, told Antara.

He said a quick perusal of the letters disclosed that he did not personally know any of the senders. He said he would send the letters to the respective parties' offices. (pan)
