Polish booters to come to town
JAKARTA (JP): The Polish Olympic soccer team will tackle the Indonesian national squad in a friendly match at the Senayan stadium in mid July.
The All-Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) has yet to decide on the date of the international match, but says that any time between July 15 and July 20 is acceptable.
PSSI Secretary-General Soeparjo Pontjowinoto said Friday that Indonesia will be represented by the national team groomed for the Anniversary Cup and the 17th Southeast Asian Games. Poland will field its young caps.
Soeparjo said PSSI had also planned to invite the Ghananian team, but could not afford to pay the appearance money wanted by the African side. The friendly match against the Polish team cost PSSI US$30,000. (amd)
