Polio vaccination drive 95% on target

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Health Agency estimates that more children under five in the city have taken part in the third polio vaccination program than the previous programs.

"We still have until Wednesday to carry out house-to-house calls in search of unvaccinated children," agency spokeswoman Zelvyno said on Monday.

She said that the agency noted that 879,388 children had received the oral vaccine, or 95.28 percent of the targeted 922,263 children.

Data from the agency shows that 272,752 children in East Jakarta were vaccinated, 187,715 in South Jakarta, 187,566 in West Jakarta, 139,295 in North Jakarta and 89,736 in Central Jakarta. -- JP
