Policeman killed in South Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Pvt. Iwan was shot dead by two men on Sunday morning while shopping at a village market in Kuta Fajar, South Aceh.

His friend, Pvt. Indra, also suffered serious gunshot wounds and is being treated at Tapak Tuan General Hospital.

"The attackers were two men riding a motorcycle who suddenly sprayed bullets at both officers," a police source said.

The incident brought the death toll to 64 since the signing of a peace accord between the government and Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebels on May 12 in Geneva. (50/edt)
