Policeman dies, three injured

BOGOR: A police officer of the elite Mobile Brigade (Brimob)
unit was killed while three others were severely injured after a
mass brawl involving the brigade officers and Army personnel on
Monday.

Second Brig. Nur Ichsan was fatally stabbed while the wounded
officers were identified as Susanto, Sogianto and Wiwin Teguh
Prasetyo. The three officers hold the same rank as Ichsan.

The brawl took place at Curug village, Cibinong district,
Bogor regency, when officers from the Brimob Kedunghalang
Regiment reportedly tried to attack the headquarters of the
Army's Cibinong Supply and Transport Battalion.

The attack was incited by a minor incident on Sunday afternoon
when Brimob officers tried to save a pickpocket from being beaten
by battalion soldiers. -- JP
