Policeman dies in accident

TANGERAMG: A member of the Tangerang Police died in an accident on Jl. Raya Serpong in Bumi Serpong Damai housing estate on Monday morning after trying to avoid hitting a passerby.

Tangerang Police chief Sr. Comr. Harry Prastowo said that the victim identified as Chief. Brig. Tri Cahyono, an officer of the Sahbara unit fractured his skull after hitting the road median and died en route to As-Shobirin Hospital, the nearest hospital on Jl. Raya Serpong.

Prastowo said that Cahyono who lived in Pamulang was riding his motorcycle at high speed because he wanted to arrive at the police headquarters by 7 p.m. for morning assembly.

"But when he was passing BSD park, someone suddenly stepped out to cross the road. In his attempt to avoid hitting the man he lost control and hit the road median," he said.--JP
