Police trace origin of Pekanbaru bomb

BATAM, Riau: After identifying suspects in the recent Pekanbaru bombing, police investigators are now trying to trace the origin of the explosives.

Riau Provincial Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. S. Pandiangan said police were hunting down Boy, one of four suspects in the case, who was believed to have assembled the bomb with another bomb suspect Irwanto.

Irwanto, is still being treated at a hospital in Pekanbaru. Along and Aliong are being held by the police.

The bombing last week killed two and injured four others, including Along and Irwanto. Preliminary investigations indicate Along arranged the bombing with the three other suspects to get an insurance payout to cover his debts, police said. -- JP
