Police told to stop student protests

MALANG, East Java: A local coordinator of Wiranto and Sholahuddin
Wahid's campaign team here demanded on Friday that security
personnel put an end to student' protests targeting presidential
aspirant Gen. (ret) Wiranto.

Aries Pujangkoro said that many student protests had
discredited Wiranto and tarnished his image, thus other
presidential aspirants would benefit, making the presidential
race unfair.

Wiranto has been the target of student protests because he was
indicted by an East Timorese court for crimes against humanity in
the 1999 Dili massacre. -- Antara
