Police to question FPI executives
JAKARTA: Police are scheduled to question two members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI) on Friday as witnesses in connection with the inquiry into FPI commander Al Habib Muhammad Rizieq, who has been charged with provoking communal hatred and inciting hatred against the government.
The city police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said the two were Hasanuddin and M. Sidiq, who both were acting as field coordinators during an anti-U.S. demonstration led by Rizieq on Oct. 15 in front of the House of Representatives building.
Rizieq was questioned on Monday.
In a related development, two members of another group based in Surakarta called FPIS filed a suit against the Jakarta Police at the South Jakarta District Court.
Lawyer M. Mahendradatta said police had illegally arrested his clients Kamidi and Ahmad Khoiri on Oct. 13 upon their arrival at Senen railway station in Central Jakarta. --JP
