Police to question FPI executives

JAKARTA: Police are scheduled to question two members of the
Islam Defenders Front (FPI) on Friday as witnesses in connection
with the inquiry into FPI commander Al Habib Muhammad Rizieq, who
has been charged with provoking communal hatred and inciting
hatred against the government.

The city police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said
the two were Hasanuddin and M. Sidiq, who both were acting as
field coordinators during an anti-U.S. demonstration led by
Rizieq on Oct. 15 in front of the House of Representatives
building.

Rizieq was questioned on Monday.

In a related development, two members of another group based
in Surakarta called FPIS filed a suit against the Jakarta Police
at the South Jakarta District Court.

Lawyer M. Mahendradatta said police had illegally arrested his
clients Kamidi and Ahmad Khoiri on Oct. 13 upon their arrival at
Senen railway station in Central Jakarta. --JP
