Police to file 'Tommy' dossier soon

JAKARTA: City Police will soon hand over the dossier on Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra's alleged involvement in the murder last July of a Supreme Court justice to the Jakarta Prosecutor's office.

According to detective chief Sr. Comr. Bambang Hendarso, the police will submit the dossier next week.

Tommy is accused of being the mastermind behind the murder of Supreme Court Justice M. Syafiuddin Kartasasmita, who sentenced him to 18 months in prison for corruption in a land exchange deal between the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and his company PT Goro Batara Sakti two years ago.

The youngest son of former president Soeharto will be charged under Article 340 of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder and Emergency Law No. 12/1951 on the illegal possession of explosives and firearms, which carries a maximum penalty of death.

Tommy's lawyer Elza Syarief told reporters on Wednesday that her client would be available for further questioning as part of the investigation to complete the dossier. --JP
