Police speed up Nurdin's questioning

JAKARTA: Police said on Thursday that they were speeding up their interrogation of lawmaker Nurdin Halid, a suspect in a case involving 73,000 tons of smuggled sugar, and planned to complete his dossier before the end of the month.

National Police Director of Economic Crimes Brig. Gen. Samuel Ismoko said that Nurdin, chairman of the Association for the Confederation of Primary Cooperatives (Inkud), was very cooperative.

"If the situation continues this way we can finish the interrogation by the end of the month. However, we have to be able to question other suspects who will testify against him, to complete the dossier," --JP
