Police shoot drug suspect

JAKARTA: A drug suspect identified as Gaun Sun Kim, 41, was shot on Monday evening by police officers in West Jakarta after he allegedly was trying to flee with 13 bags of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine).

Kim, who is now in the hospital with a wound to his thigh was shot during a raid on Jl. Tangki in the Taman Sari district of West Jakarta.

Police said they were questioning the suspect to find out if he was connected to a larger syndicate, but apparently they had not gleaned anything useful.

"He is quite famous among drug dealers so he should know other top dealers in several syndicates. We will question him again," Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said.--JP
