Police seize 6.5kg of Acehnese ganja
JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta Police detectives confiscated 6.5 kilograms of Acehnese marijuana worth about Rp 13 million (US$1,625) from a man on Thursday.
Central Jakarta Police chief of detectives Maj. Budiono Sandi said that aside from the suspect, Syarifuddin Amin, 34, the police also arrested two others in connection with the one-day raid.
The other arrested men were identified as Muhamad Saiful, 26, and M. Aldi alias Djoni, 32.
"We received the information from residents of Jl. Matraman Dalam I last month that Syarifuddin, who lives on the same street, was a drug dealer," Budiono said at the station.
"At about 8 a.m. on Thursday, police broke into his house and found the 6.5 kilos of ganja in a plastic bag, along with a scale.
"Syarifuddin told us he got the drugs from Muhamad Saiful, who lives in Palmeriam, East Jakarta. We caught Saiful loitering in the Pramuka Market in East Jakarta. He confessed everything, saying that he got the drugs from his neighbor, Djoni."
Budiono said that when police raided Djoni's home, Djoni claimed he obtained the drugs from Ismail, a fellow student at Abulyatama University in Aceh.
In another drug-related case, South Jakarta Police detectives detained T. Syafi'i Em Aziz on Thursday morning in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, for using fake car documents and driver's license.
However, South Jakarta Police detectives chief Capt. Rycko Amelza Daniel said police later found 40 ecstasy pills on Aziz's possession. (ylt)
