Police seize 30,000 firecrackers

KARANGANYAR, Central Java: Local police have seized a total of 30,000 firecrackers during a series of operations since the start of the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Karanganyar Police chief Lt. Col. Sudarsono said on Tuesday five dealers had been questioned, but no arrests were made.

"Firecrackers are dangerous and can be lethal. But many people, especially, children, are not aware of this," he complained.

He said the operation would continue, along with the crackdown on drugs and prostitution. (har/edt)
