Police seize 300 bottles of liquor

BEKASI, West Java (JP): Bekasi police yesterday confiscated 300 bottles of alcohol in an operation code named Kilat Jaya.

The operation at two brothels, the Cibitung Bekasi Laut and the Malvinas, was launched at midnight which is the busiest time.

"The operation's targets were alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, firearms and sharp weapons believed to have often been used by criminals," chief of Bekasi police precinct Lt. Col. Alex Bambang Riatmodjo said yesterday.

Bekasi, a suburban and developing area, some 30 kilometers east of Jakarta, is designed to be a buffer zone for the capital.

Armed robberies, aggravated assaults, thefts, rapes and student brawls have frequently occurred in the regency. (kod)
