Police seize 18 stolen vehicles

TANGERANG (JP): Local police have arrested five suspects and
confiscated 18 stolen cars from a series of vehicle thefts in
Tangerang during the past two months.

Tangerang Police Detectives chief Capt. Rachmad Wibowo said on
Thursday that the alleged crooks usually operated in parking lots
and stole the vehicles by using duplicated keys, after stalking
the target for sometime.

The five nabbed suspects are Nasir Surif, Syahrial alias
Buyung, Gani, Aping and Fauji or Oji. "Three of them are known as
long-time players," Rachmad said.

The seized cars are stationed as evidence at the Tangerang
Police Precinct, including eight Toyota Kijang vans, five Toyota
Kijang pick-ups, a Suzuki Futura minivan, two Daihatsu Espass
minivans, an Isuzu Panther van and a Ford sedan.

"We've notified owners of these cars. They can come and
check," First Lt. Darmawi, chief of the Vehicles Thievery Unit,
said. (41/edt)
