Police search for murderer

JAKARTA (JP): The police are searching for three suspects in the murder of a driver, identified as Widodo, 30, at a house in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, an officer said on Sunday.

South Jakarta Police deputy chief Asst. Supt. J.J. Mirah told The Jakarta Post on Sunday detectives had visited the wife of Giman, one of the suspects, and hoped to find new leads in the case.

"We have sent out a team to capture Giman, a gardener (at the house), who went missing after the murder took place.

"We are sure that he is the prime witness in the case and could be one of the murderers," Mirah said.

He said the murder took place at approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday at a house on Jl. H. Nain, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. He said police believed the murder involved three people, who took a motorcycle to make the murder look like a robbery.

Mirah said police suspected the motive for the murder was revenge and not robbery, because the three suspects only took a motorcycle and left the two cars parked in front of the house.

"We suspect Giman is one of the murderers because there are no signs of forced entry. Someone must have opened the gate for the other two suspects to enter the yard," Mirah said. (dja)
