Police release alleged terrorists
JAKARTA: The National Police released on Wednesday four of 17 people arrested last week in Central Java and Jakarta on suspicion of links to terrorism.
National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Aryanto Boedihardjo said the four were released because of a lack of evidence.
"Although we released them, it does not mean we are letting them go completely free. We will continue to maintain a close watch over them to see if they are linked to terrorist attacks or not."
A source at National Police Headquarters identified two of the four people released as Dani Candra and Joko Tri.
Aryanto said 11 of the 17 people arrested last week had been declared terrorist suspects on Tuesday, while officers were investigating another two people. -- JP
