Police release 10 FPIS members

JAKARTA: The police released on Wednesday 10 members of the Surakarta Islamic Youth Front who were arrested for illegal possession of weapons during an anti-U.S. protest at the U.S. Embassy on Oct.13.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton said the police would continue legal proceedings against them despite their release.

"The police in Surakarta (Central Java) will keep an eye on them," Anton said.

Anton said the police were still proceeding with the case against the Islamic Defenders Front commander Habib Rizieq, who was charged with inciting hatred at an FPI anti-U.S. protest on Oct. 9. --JP
