Police ready to aid holiday travelers

JAKARTA: National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Adang
Dorodjatun said on Thursday the police would cooperate with the
Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation and the
Ministry of Health to provide first aid in the event of a natural
disaster during the Idul Fitri holiday.

"We have set up hundreds of stations and deployed officers,
especially to areas of Java and Sumatra islands that are prone to
disasters. We are ready to assist the public during their journey
home," Adang said during a video conference with 16 city police
chiefs.

Members of House of Representatives Commission III on law and
human rights also took part in the conference. -- JP
