Police raid small ecstasy lab

JAKARTA: Jakarta Police raided early Friday an ecstasy lab at a house on Jl. Kartini, Central Jakarta, confiscating four manual machines to produce ecstasy, chemical substances and 21 ecstasy pills of various colors.

The police also arrested a woman named Sylvia, who was at the house.

Police sources refused to explain the production capacity of each of the machines.

They revealed the raid was based on information given by two people who were arrested hours earlier on Thursday night.

The two, identified as Hariyanto and Sondi, were caught on Jl. Mangga Besar in Tamansari, West Jakarta, at about 10 p.m., carrying a total of 35 ecstasy pills in their pockets.

The sources also did not reveal whether any of the three was the owner of the lab. -- JP
