Police probe burning of school
PALANGKA RAYA, Central Kalimantan: Police forensic experts are investigating the fire that gutted Saturday the SMU-I senior high school in Muara Teweh, North Barito regency, causing an estimated financial loss of Rp 1 billion (US$133,333).
Antara quoted North Barito police chief Lt. Col. Sugeng S.K. as saying Tuesday that a team of experts from East Java have been dispatched and are expected to soon reveal the causes of the fire.
He said the fire was believed to have stemmed from an Islamic high school building next door.
The fire destroyed 14 classrooms, including a laboratory and its equipment. (swe)
