Police pay tribute to guards

JAKARTA: The city police paid tribute on Monday to 690 guards of railway crossings across the capital for helping police in upholding security during the Idul Fitri, Christmas and New Year festivities.

"We thank them for helping us to regulate traffic in Jakarta during the Ketupat Lilin police operation such that no traffic accident involving train cars took place," said city police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Prasetyo.

Prasetyo said the tribute was merely in the form of a token of appreciation.

Those receiving the token of appreciation were those working at 100 railway crossings across Jakarta, including those at Palmerah, Central Jakarta, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, and Lenteng Agung in Depok. --JP
