Police open new university
JAKARTA (JP): The National Police have founded a new
university which is scheduled to be opened next month.
According to National Police Chief Gen. Banurusman
Astrosemitro, the university will be called Universitas
Bhayangkara (Ubhara) Metro, named after the emblem of the
Indonesian police.
The campus will be located at the College of Police Sciences
(PTIK) on Jl. Wijaya X, Kebayoran Baru, in South Jakarta.
Maj. Gen. (ret) Koesparmono Irsan, a former deputy to national
police chief for operational affairs, has been appointed as the
rector of the newly-founded university.
A total of 48 lecturers from several noted state and
privately-owned universities in Jakarta and Bandung have been
appointed to give their lectures there.
During the early years, the university will provide only
faculties of engineering and law. (bsr)
