Police on verge of huge drug bust

JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Police is reportedly on the verge of making a substantial drug bust involving hundreds of thousands of Inex pills, a police source said on Thursday night.

A police detective from the Jakarta Police's violent crimes unit said on Thursday that the drugs, packed in cargo, were reportedly going to be smuggled from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport into the U.S.

"Someone from the cargo business tipped us and we are currently developing the case to get to the bottom of it," the source told The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

When the Post asked the Violent Crimes Unit chief, First. Insp. Tagam Sinaga, about the drugs, Tagam said that he could not say anything about the case.

"We are developing the case ... we are handling it. I cannot say more. Give me time," Tagam said. (ylt)
