Police officers held for drug
PALU, Central Sulawesi: The Central Sulawesi provincial police are questioning two police officers over drug charges.
The two police officers in question were Adj. Sr. Comr. Ndang Supriatna, the deputy head of the provincial's police traffic division, and Adj. Sr. Comr. Suko Haradi, the head of the Criminal Analysis Division at the provincial police.
"They are being questioned after they were spotted recently in a room at a night spot here where a drug party was being held," said Brig. Gen. Taufik Ridha, chief of the provincial police, on Thursday.
Besides the two officers, the provincial police force also nabbed three other police officers in the party.
They were First. Insp. Sentot, the deputy head of the provincial police force's intelligence division, First. Insp. Syamsu, the chief of intelligence section at the Palu police precinct and First. Insp. Simangunsong, an officer with the intelligence division at the Central Sulawesi provincial police.
The three confessed that they consumed shabu-shabu (crystal amphetamine) in the party, but they quickly defended that it was part of their undercover investigation, said Taufik.
However, Taufik said that they still violated the law, because they had consumed drug, and therefore, they had to be punished.
The one-star police general said that the three had been removed from their posts and had been given no positions. He did not go into details whether the three would face legal prosecution afterward. -- JP
