Police officers fired for crimes

BATAM, Riau Islands: Three low-ranking Batam Police officers were
fired on Monday for various offenses.

Second Brig. Affandi was fired for fraud and assault on a
woman, Second Brig. Montriadi for desertion and Second Brig.
Halim Perdana Satria for releasing a criminal suspect without
authorization from his superior.

They were discharged during a ceremony at Barelang Police
station in Batam. Barelang Police chief Sr. Comr. Andayono said
the decision to fire the officers was made to send a warning to
other officers. -- JP
