Police named for Munir's case
JAKARTA: Police named Brig. Gen. Marsudi Hanafi on Thursday as their representative in the investigative team to assist police investigations into Munir's death.
Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Paiman said that Marsudi, who was currently head of the planning and administration bureau at the police headquarters, was chosen because of his good track record.
Members of the team will consist of noted human rights lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis, Muhammadiyah chairman Syafii Maarif and former first lady Sinta Nuriah, and representatives from the police, the Attorney General's Office and government officials.
The team, which will report directly to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, is expected to finish its investigation within six months at the latest. -- JP
