Police name suspects of BLK attack

TANGERANG: The Tangerang Police have named four people who are suspected in an attack on a job training center (BLK) of PT Adi Santa Kencana Mas, a supplier of migrant workers on Jl. Iskandar Muda in Neglasari district of Tangerang.

Tangerang Police deputy chief Comr. Gde Sugianyar said on Thursday that the four suspects, identified as Satibih, 25, Saifudin, 18, Nafsin, 22 and Nuriyaman, 19, were arrested on Tuesday. They are residents of Padalaman village in Serang, Banten province.

Some 100 residents of Pedalaman village, Tirtayasa district of Serang who arrived at the center in two trucks attacked the illegal migrant worker center that was home to 500 workers, mostly women. No injuries were reported, but the building was damaged.

Andree, 25, a local resident, said that the assault was sparked by the center's security officers' rudeness toward a man who intended to visit a relative at the center.

"A day before the assault, I saw a security officer forbid an unidentified man from entering the building and kick him after he tried to insist on seeing his niece," he told The Jakarta Post.

He said the unidentified man then went home and returned on Tuesday with two trucks of people who attacked the building.--JP
