Police nab suspected molester

BOGOR: West Bogor police arrested on Friday a 25-year-old man who allegedly molested a teenager.

Chief of detectives First Insp. Luki said the 13-year-old victim lived next door to the suspect, identified as Iwan, in a neighborhood in Gunung Batu subdistrict.

The police said the suspect had admitted that he took the victim to his house on Thursday at about 8 p.m. to baby-sit his four-year-old daughter. The girl stayed overnight at his house.

On Friday morning, the girl told her parents that she had been molested.

"Luckily the parents informed us early enough so we were able to arrive in time to prevent angry residents from attacking the suspect's house," Luki said.

He added the suspect would be charged with molestation under Article 292 of the Criminal Code, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. -- Antara
