Police look for burglary suspects

TANGERANG (JP): A burglary took place at the residence of Sr. Supt. Iman Haryatna, a senior officer of the National Police Intelligence Directorate, in Vila Melati housing complex here on Friday morning.

First Insp. Hasbullah from the local police said Tangerang detectives had found fingerprints at places inside the house.

"We are investigating this case," he announced at the site and would not give any further details.

It's rare for Indonesian Police to trace or solve a crime simply based on fingerprints.

Separately, a housing complex security guard, Haryanto, said the fingerprints were on the door of the house, which is located at Block G 11/1.

"I hope the fingerprints left on the door will help the police solve the case soon, as it is a great embarrassment to the Tangerang Police," Haryanto said.

Iman was once chief of the Tangerang Police.

The burglars, he said, left an entire part of the house in disarray before taking a facsimile machine.

There was only a maid in the house at the time of the incident, and she was asleep. Iman stays with his family in Jakarta.

Iman, a former city police intelligence chief, went to the house when he heard of the burglary.

"Serpong Police detectives are investigating the case. It's nothing ... just a facsimile machine," Iman said. (41/ylt)
