Police guard Polish consul's residence

BANDUNG: A team of police officers are providing around-the- clock security at the residence of the Polish honorary consul here, which was robbed by a group of armed men on Friday.

West Java Police chief of detectives Adj. Sr. Comr. Ahmad Abdi said the deployment was aimed at comforting the consul, Mariola Budiman, who was still traumatized by the incident.

Ahmad said the police did not have any leads on the robbers, who made off with jewelry, Rp 18 million (US$1,875) in cash and a luxury car.

"The six people who were locked up said they could not identify the robbers. It is difficult to identify who did this. We are moving forward with our investigation using sketches based on whatever details were provided by the witnesses and fingerprint evidence," he told The Jakarta Post on Saturday. --JP
