Police guard nightspots

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: All entertainment spots such as
theaters, discotheques, bars and karaokes clubs here were being
tightly guarded by police during the Ramadhan fasting month,
Purwokerto Police chief Lt. Col. Jhonny Hutauruk said on
Saturday.

"We check on their operating hours to make sure they are
respecting the provisions during the holy fasting month and to
avoid any possible disputes such as mass attacks which can
trigger widespread unrest," Jhonny explained.

At least 60 entertainment spots in the town are being guarded
by about 100 police personnel who are supported by members of
civilian security task forces from Nahdlatul Ulama and political
