Police find marijuana field

PADANG, West Sumatra: Local police in Solok, West Sumatra, found on Tuesday a 400-square-meter marijuana plantation and 115 marijuana plants ready for harvest.

The police detained two local men believed to be the plantation's owners.

"Thanks to local people who reported the suspect field, we were able to discover the marijuana plantation," West Sumatra Police spokesman Comr. Heri Dwi Prantodo said on Tuesday.

He added the police would search for other marijuana fields based on the two suspects' accounts.

Separately in Padang, local police arrested two men in their boarding house for possessing 8.5 kilograms of marijuana they had smuggled from Aceh. Heri said the two men had already sold 10.5 kilograms of marijuana. -- JP
