Police enable SMS, radio reporting
JAKARTA: Starting Jan. 17, Greater Jakarta residents will be able to submit security, traffic, violence and public order reports via short messaging service (SMS) and radio calls.
Reports can be sent as SMS to 1717, or to Suara Metro, 91.1 FM, at (021) 5708037.
"The two services are part of our integrated solutions," Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said on Thursday. "It will be very convenient for those of the public who may not have the time to file reports at the nearest police station."
The system, he added, was part of the police force's efforts to improve their services to the public. -- JP
