Police detain Suripto for alleged graft
JAKARTA: The former Ministry of Forestry secretary-general, Suripto, was taken into police custody after undergoing hours of intensive questioning.
"The police have collected sufficient evidence," the head of the Jakarta Police investigative unit, Adj. Comm. Anton Wahono, told Antara.
Suripto arrived at Jakarta Police Headquarters at about 9 a.m. for questioning over his alleged role in the ministry's purchase of two helicopters worth Rp 90 billion (US$10 million).
Suripto was the ministry's secretary-general during the administration of former president Abdurrahman Wahid from 1999 to 2001. --JP
