Police detain cargo boat crew

MANADO, North Sulawesi: North Sulawesi Police apprehended on
Tuesday the crew members of a Philippine cargo boat that was
carrying undocumented drugs, clothes, 26 chain saws and protected
animals, including dozens of cockatoos, a senior police officer
said on Wednesday.

The items were purchased in Bitung city, said North Sulawesi
Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Budhy Wibowo.

Budhy said 12 crew members of the Al Jamar boat, which had
been flying the Philippines' national flag, had been detained.
Head of the North Sulawesi water police Sr. Comr. Ade Subarjan
said the boat had been stopped while it was sailing in Bitung
