Police destroy fireworks, VCDs

BOGOR: The police destroyed on Monday millions of firecrackers, pirated video compact discs (VCDs) and thousands of bottles of liquor confiscated in a string of raids held prior to and during the Ramadhan fasting month.

Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. M. Taufik said the raid would continue.

"The raids are aimed at maintaining order during the fasting month, so Muslims can observe their religious customs without interference," he said. -- JP
