Police called on to settle PKB row

JAKARTA: The National Police are processing a complaint lodged by Alwi Shihab's National Awakening Party (PKB) against Matori Abdul Djalil, who heads the party's splinter group, for allegedly falsifying the party's letterhead and seal.

Mohammad Tohadi, who heads the human rights and legal division of the PKB faction loyal to former foreign minister Alwi, said on Sunday that the police would soon call upon representatives of both PKB factions for clarification on the matter.

The complaint followed an incident on May 13, when Matori and his PKB colleague Abdul Khalik Ahmad sent an official letter to the House of Representatives (DPR), demanding that chief of the PKB faction in the House, Ali Masykur Moesa, be replaced by deputy secretary Susono Jusuf.

Tohadi said the letter was on a party letterhead and stamped with the seal that were both claimed by Alwi's camp.

According to Tohadi, Abdul Khalik had forged the signature of Susono in the letter. Susono himself has formally protested this act. -- JP
