Police arrest two with drugs

JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Police detectives arrested on Monday evening two suspected drug dealers for possession of 800 ecstasy pills and 285 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai in Klender, East Jakarta.

Secretary to the city police detectives chief Lt. Col. Tjiptono identified the suspects as Efer Pattikawa, 25, and Andriyunus Lewol, alias Tinus, 37. Both are currently unemployed.

"Our officers went undercover and pretended to buy drugs from the suspects before making the bust," Tjiptono told reporters.

He said the police had already made arrangements with the drug dealers to meet them for the buy at the Atrium Senen shopping center in Central Jakarta.

"When the undercover officers reached the location they spotted one of the suspects who told them he was worried police might be around, suggesting the transaction be carried out in the parking lot of the Buaran Cinema in Klender instead," said Tjiptono.

The undercover officers immediately requested city police headquarters to send detectives to Klender for backup.

While Efer stood alert, Tinus attempted to make the sell and was placed under arrest by the undercover officers.

Tjiptono said Tinus confessed that he was the owner of the drugs and that they were supplied to him by a shabu-shabu dealer, identified as Bonny, and an ecstasy dealer, identified as Rudy, both of whom are at large. (ylt)
