Police arrest two, seize drugs

JAKARTA (JP): City Police detectives apprehended a married couple on Tuesday for possession of 1,863 ecstasy pills, 590 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine), some marijuana, a pistol and some bullets at their house on Jl. Sunter Kirana VII in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

City Police detective chief of narcotics Lt. Col. Abdullah identified the suspects as Sutrisno Karjo Husodo, alias Nick Setiawan, 36, and wife Lizki Ananda, 19.

"We received a call on Monday from an anonymous caller informing us that drug transactions usually occurred at the couple's residence," Abdullah told reporters on Wednesday.

"I sent my officers to check it out. My officers went undercover and met up with the couple on Tuesday afternoon at their residence. When they offered my officers the drugs, they were handcuffed."

Police confiscated the shabu-shabu, the ecstasy, 14 grams of marijuana, the FN 45 weapon and 14 bullets.

"Nick says he keeps the gun for safety reasons," Abdullah laughingly said.

Based on police records, arrests for possession of ecstasy, once a very popular drug among teenagers, has shown a significant drop in the past few months.

However, police are now making more arrests for possession of shabu-shabu. (ylt)
