Police arrest four over murder

JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Police arrested four alleged separatist
rebels here early on Monday morning in connection with the murder
of four Mobile Brigade police officers last month.

The provincial police chief, Insp. Gen. Made Pangku Pastika,
said on Tuesday the suspects were arrested during a joint police
and military raid in Manokwari.

Pastika identified the suspects as Tonci Baransano, Hermanus
Metani, Nataniel Yoweli and Yohanis Marani, who are all in their
50s. Except for Yohanis, who is a farmer, all of the suspects are
elementary school teachers. They are currently being detained at
the Manokwari Police station. (04/35)
