Police arrest female car thieves

JAKARTA: Two women suspected of stealing cars from several rental companies were arrested in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The suspects, identified only as, Ind, 38, and Mul, 42, were arrested in their homes in Babelan, Bekasi, Jakarta Police criminal investigation chief Sr. Comr. Mathius Salempang said on Wednesday.

Mathius said Mul was the wife of a dismissed Army officer.

He said both Ind and Mul had sold 50 cars they had rented from 13 rental car centers in East Jakarta and Bekasi.

"Thus far, we have recovered three of the cars."

He said that police were hunting a number of other suspects but declined to mention names. --JP.
