Police arrest drug suspects

TANGERANG: A 16-year-old high school student was arrested by the police after buying 27 barbiturate pills from a suspected drug dealer in the latter's house in Kelapa Dua village, Curug district of Tangerang late on Monday.

The suspected drug dealer, Ujang Herman, 20, along with his colleague Dedy, 24, were also nabbed.

Police detective chief Insp. Chandra Sukma Kumara said they raided Ujang's house after receiving information from locals, who alleged that the suspect often sold drugs to students.

Chandra said police confiscated five kilograms of marijuana and 135 barbiturates.

Ujang admitted that he sold the pills for Rp 1,000 each to the buyers, who were mostly students, Chandra said.

"We were a little bit late because just a minute before we arrived (in Ujang's house), two 'unidentified men' had just bought two kilograms of marijuana from the suspect," Kumara added.--JP
