Police arrest dozens of thugs

BEKASI: Police have netted dozens of hoodlums in a raid in several locations in Bekasi for inciting fear among the public and causing violence.

The thugs were arrested on Thursday at Bekasi bus terminal on Jl. Ampera, and on Jl. Bulak Kapal.

"The arrests were made based on complaints filed by people in the areas," an official at Bekasi police station said on Friday.

The official said the hoodlums were asked to submit written statements declaring that they would no longer hang around and commit violence in the areas.

He said the public could also send short message service (SMS) reports to Bekasi police at 0815-5883-8383 on neighborhood crimes. -- Antara
